The Little Known Secret to Youth and Vitality

During times of stress, many physiological changes take place. We become distracted from our bodies and many functions become irregular. One of those functions is our breathing. Stress causes our bodies to become very tense and our breathing becomes constricted and shallow. This significantly decreases the amount of oxygen our body is receiving with each breath.

Over time, chronic shallow breathing can have detrimental effects on your health, impacting everything from your mental state and digestion to your skin’s youthful complexion and glow.

Breath is the source of life, even though we use it constantly without giving it any thought.  Every single cell in our body requires oxygen to function properly. Regular, deep breathing is the key to good health. It provides our body with oxygen, which is how we cleanse our body systems and maintain vitality.

Purify Your Bloodstream Through Breath

Oxygen is used to purify the blood stream by removing the toxic waste products circulating in our bodies via the lymphatic system.  The lymphatic system is like the sewage system for our bodies and deep breathing acts as somewhat of a “pump” for this system. Shallow breathing leads to a sluggish lymphatic system that does a poor job of purifying the bloodstream and detoxifying the body. This leads to an overall deterioration of health.

A purified bloodstream is the secret to a youthful look and lifelong vitality.

While a healthy blood flow is what carries nutrients and oxygen throughout the body, the lymphatic system is what carries away the toxic waste products we accumulate. A slow lymphatic system means a slow removal of these poisons, which is why it is so important to be aware of your breathing- even in times of stress.

Benefits of Deep Breathing

  • increased energy
  • mental clarity
  • improved mood
  • better digestion
  • youthful, glowing skin
  • increased vitality
  • improved detoxification
  • better overall health

Our brain can’t function properly without adequate oxygen. And, quite frankly, we can’t survive without it. Period. In the fast-paced, high-stress world we live in, it is typical to breathe very shallow throughout most of the day without ever realizing it. Learning to breathe mindfully can not only help to counteract the effects stress has on your body, but it can also help restore balance and cleanse the body.

Just a couple moments of deep breathing can help to settle the body and mind, improve self-awareness and mental clarity and increase energy.
