How To Detox Your Body in 5 Minutes

We often associate cleansing with the change of the seasons. Every few months or so we’ll do a one or two week cleanse (or even a 30 day if we’re feeling extra toxic!). This is an amazing thing to do for our bodies. It is a great way to get rid of all that unavoidable toxic junk that we breathe, drink and eat.

But what if you could be more proactive in ridding yourself of these toxins? And what if I told you it would only take FIVE MINUTES? Not five days. Not two weeks. Not a whole month. Interested?

Every single day, I take 5 minutes of my morning to detoxify my entire body. It’s something so simple that doesn’t take up too much time and anyone can do. It’s a great way to keep your body functioning in tip top shape every day in between those oh-so-exciting seasonal cleanses that we love doing so much.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Organic unrefined coconut oil (Add doTERRA essential oils for additional benefits)
  • Natural dry skin brush
  • Clean, pure water
  • doTERRA lemon essential oil

I am all about optimizing my time. I am just like everyone else- trying to get 25 hours worth of things done in a 24 hour day. By taking a couple extra minutes in the morning and doing a little multi-tasking, I am able to manage a complete body detox every single day.

Here’s What You’ll Do:

I personally am a morning shower person. It helps wake me up and jumpstart my day. The first thing I do when I wake up is head to the bathroom, grab my natural skin brush and start brushing from my feet all the way up to my neck and shoulders. This takes all of 3 minutes to complete.

Next, I turn on the shower water. While that is heating up, I grab a teaspoon or so of organic, unrefined coconut oil and pop that in my mouth. This is to do what’s called oil pulling. I like to add a drop of On Guard essential oil to it to prevent cavities, but you can add oils like peppermint for fresh breath instead, or just use the oil by itself.

I cannot stress enough that both the coconut oil and the essential oils are entering your mouth, so quality counts here! I only use doTERRA essential oils, as they are the purest and are completely safe to ingest.

By now, the shower is heated up and I step in. I am aiming to oil pull for about 15-20 minutes, so by the time I have showered, dried off and put my (organic, paraben-free) lotion on, I am ready to dispose of the oil. No time lost there- multi-tasking at it’s best!

Finally, I head to the kitchen, pour a glass of 16 ounces of pure, clean water and add a couple drops of lemon essential oil. I simply drink this as I continue to get ready for the day.

Talk about setting yourself up to be the best version of you that you can be each day. Not bad for five minutes of your time, right?
